Get your teeth done in Turkey

Dental Care

One of the most renowned destinations for dental tourism is Turkey. Here, patients can access high-quality dental services at a price they don’t have to sweat about. Now more than ever, patients are flocking from the UK, USA and even as far as New Zealand to achieve the smile of their dreams, and it’s easy to see why!

Turkey boasts over 1,300 dental hospitals that specialise in dental care. These are mainly private, and all operate under the watchful of the Turkish Health Ministry and TDA (Turkish Dental Association).

But before you embark on your journey to the land of the four seasons, there are some things that you should know about dental tourism in Turkey.

Why is Turkey cheap for dental treatment?

The main reason why dental treatment in Turkey is so affordable compared to places like the United Kingdom or the United States is that the government supports and encourages medical tourism. The annual revenue of health tourism in Turkey is more than 1 billion dollars. According to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), this amount is between $2.5 billion and $3 billion, including unregistered revenues.

Another reason is the Currency Exchange Advantage. The value of the Turkish lira is less compared to the Pound, Euro or the US dollar. On average, a pound equals about 22 TRY, a Euro around 18 TRY, and a US dollar equals about 17 TRY. Therefore, patients from the UK, USA or Europe pay less for the same treatments due to the advantage in the exchange rate.

People usually think that the low cost can be related to the bad quality. Dentists in Turkey use the same techniques and materials as their American or European colleagues to produce veneers. Operation costs, including laboratory costs and dentist fees, are affordable in Turkey compared to places like the UK or the USA.

Dental Implants

Dental implants have emerged as a widely accepted solution for missing teeth. These implants are surgically placed in the jawbone to serve as a root for the replacement tooth. They are crafted from high-quality materials and are biocompatible with the natural tissues of the mouth.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a popular solution for restoring damaged or decayed teeth. They are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, making them an excellent option for patients seeking a more natural restoration. Whether you need a crown to protect a weakened tooth or to improve the appearance of your smile, your dentist can help you determine if this treatment is right for you.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are typically made of porcelain or resin composite materials and can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, such as discoloration, chipped or broken teeth, and gaps between teeth. The process of getting veneers involves removing a small amount of tooth enamel to make room for the veneers, taking impressions of the teeth, and then bonding the veneers to the teeth using a special adhesive.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of a person's teeth, gums, and bite. It includes procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, dental implants, and orthodontic treatments like braces or clear aligners. The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to enhance the aesthetic appeal of a person's smile while also improving their oral health.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that involves removing stains and discoloration from the teeth to improve their appearance. It is typically done using a bleaching agent, such as hydrogen peroxide, which is applied to the teeth and activated with a special light or laser. The process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the method used, and can result in teeth that are several shades lighter.
